What is Koru doing?
Today, many of us are pursuing a new approach to business that balances and connects financial, social and environmental interests. The choice of approach depends on the phase your organization is in. Origin of Koru
Koru Consulting was founded in 2015 by Dr. Diane Zandee RC, consultant in the field of circular economy and the financial challenges associated with it. Experience has shown that a financial proposition and a sustainable business model did not always go together easily and sometimes did not fit within the set accounting frameworks. While the circular economy offers opportunities for a more sustainable world where social, ecological and financial goals can be linked. Sustainability therefore affects not only all aspects of the organization, but also the entire value chain or the surrounding ecosystem.
The core of Koru
“Koru” is a Maori word that describes the spiral shape with which a fern frond blossoms every year. This powerful symbol of innovation and positive change reflects Koru Consulting’s commitment to helping organizations accelerate their sustainability efforts. We do this through well-thought-out strategies and tangible actions. Koru Consulting focuses on sustainability, connection, reliability and innovation.
Our team
In 2015, Diane Zandee was the driving force behind the birth of Koru Consulting. As a sustainability expert, she is not only in demand for various projects, consultancy processes and as a valued speaker, but she also embraces the principle: “the more, the merrier.” That is why she has decided to expand her team with talented people who, together with her, make the business world greener as sustainability accelerators. Ultimately, sustainability really is ‘teamwork’!

About: Diane (1977) founded Koru Consulting in 2015 after working for 15 years at various organizations such as the NS and Schiphol, but also start-ups and scale-ups. Initially from a financial role as CFO or Procurement Officer, but later increasingly from a connecting role towards sustainability. PhD research focused on the financial challenges of the circular economy.
Role: She has extensive experience in integrating sustainable strategy, shaping sustainable business models and the requirements of the CSRD. She has a broad network of experts in the field of stakeholder management, change management and sustainable transitions. She can also be booked as a speaker. Through the combination of her knowledge, experience and eternal optimism, she has been able to take organizations along on this journey. In an inspiring way, she can turn complex and abstract topics into action plans for sustainability in a very practical, concrete and results-oriented way.

Name: Tara Vester MSc
Works as: Sustainability advisor
About: During her language and culture studies, a Japanese named Piet pointed out the innovative power of greenhouse horticulture to Tara (1994) and she could not resist this world. In the following years, she gained various work experience in this sector in a variety of domains, including marketing, communication and sustainability. In 2023 she completed the Part-time Master in Management at Nyenrode Business University.
Role: She joined Koru in 2023 from her thesis research into the positive impact of sustainability change agents on language and culture within sustainability transitions. In the meantime, she connects the alpha and beta sides of organizations and advises on how to create multiple value in more sustainable business models.
